I spent five days in Prague and the city became one of my favorite cities in Europe.

I stayed at Sir Toby’s Hostel on the north side of the Vltava River for three nights then I spent two nights in Best Spot Hostel at the Old Town. When traveling solo I definitely prefer hostels so I can meet people rather than staying in hotel rooms.

Sir Toby’s was more of a party hostel where young 20 year olds pregamed and planned their pub crawls. I didn’t go to any pub crawls, but I did go on a late night boat party with them. Best Spot was a quieter hostel and the location was very central.

I met many people in Sir Toby’s and hung out with Nawid and Steven from Denmark and Ryan from England. After Nawid and Steven left, Ryan and I met up a few times. It was great meeting new people even though most of them are in their 20s. None of them were able to guess my age. One girl even thought I was 23! I was definitely the oldest in the group.

There were so many places I visited. A hidden gem in Prague is the Museum of Miniatures. I had to use microscopes and magnifying glasses to view the artwork. One of them was a bicycle in the eye of an needle, which was very cool.

I also went to the Czech Museum of Cubism, Franz Kafka Museum, and the Museum of Torture and Torture Instruments. Museum of Torture was a waste of money and time and the Cubism museum only had two rooms to see. The Kafka Museum was good and I learned more about the writer and his  life.

There were a ton of other notable sights and I took many photographs. Prague is very walkable and scenic with many bridges. From the hills on the other side of the river, I was able to see the city from higher vantage points.

Five days is a good amount of time to spend in Prague. I’m taking the bus to Dresden, Germany, today at 12:30 PM.
