Gozo and Malta: Last 3 Days

After writing my previous post, I walked to the Sannat town center to get dinner. Like many towns, the main attraction at the town square is a church. However, I wasn’t able to go in since the doors were locked.

After dinner, I walked about 30 minutes to the Ta Cenc Cliffs. The view there was amazing and I arrived just a few minutes before the sunset. I ended up chatting with a tourist from India who works in Norway. He recommended me some places to visit in Gozo.

The next day, I took the bus to several spots in Gozo and visited the Citadel in Victoria, Dwejra Inland Sea, and Ġgantija Archaeological Park.

The Citadel is quite big and there’s a church inside it. The view from the walls of the citadel is also impressive since I could see all the surrounding areas.

After reaching the Inland Sea in Dwejra, I took a 15 minute boat tour that only cost €5. Too bad that the famous natural arch, Azure Window, had collapsed nine years ago.

The last place I went was Ġgantija. It’s a megalithic temple complex that’s older than the pyramids. Except for its age, I wasn’t impressed by it. Just some ancient rocks to me. I guess I’m just not that interested in archaeology.

By the time I came back to the guesthouse in the afternoon I was dead tired. There were a lot of cars honking and people shouting in the streets. Apparently, the people of Malta elected a favorable president from the Labour Party.

This morning, I made my way back to Malta from Gozo. The return trip took about three hours. I checked into Marco Polo Party Hostel in St. Julian’s, but I don’t plan on doing any partying tonight since I’ll be waking up at 6 AM tomorrow to catch the flight to Wrocław, Poland.

This concludes my 36 days backpacking tour of Italy and Malta. I will be starting my bicycle tour from Wrocław, Poland, to the Balkans on June 3.
